Manav Vikas NGO, founded in 1994 by the dedicated Birbal Prasad, is a grassroots organization committed to fostering equitable and sustainable development in rural India.
Our work is guided by the belief that every individual, regardless of caste, gender, or disability, deserves an opportunity to realize their full potential. Through strategic partnerships, impactful programs, and a dedicated team, Manav Vikas continues to create lasting change in the lives of thousands.
Operating in Jharkhand, Bihar, and West Bengal, we focus on empowering marginalized communities through education, health care, livelihood training, and environmental conservation.
Our Approach
We Facilitate Safe Learning Spaces
At Manav Vikas NGO, founded by the committed Birbal Prasad, we believe that education thrives in an environment of safety and inclusivity. Our focus is on creating safe learning spaces for children and youth, especially from marginalized and vulnerable communities.
We establish and maintain:
- Child-Friendly Classrooms: Equipped with educational resources tailored to the needs of differently-abled students, including Braille kits.
- Non-Formal Education Centers: Designed for children who are dropouts or have never attended school, ensuring they can bridge the gap and rejoin formal education.
- Community Health and Education Hubs: Safe spaces for young girls and women to learn about health, hygiene, and rights in a supportive environment.
Through these initiatives, we’ve witnessed an increase in school enrollment rates, improved academic performance, and reduced dropout rates among children in rural areas.

— Our Story
The journey of Manav Vikas NGO began on July 16, 1994, when Birbal Prasad, driven by a deep sense of social responsibility, laid its foundation in Ichak, Hazaribagh. Witnessing widespread poverty, illiteracy, and exploitation in rural areas, he envisioned an organization that could address these systemic issues and uplift the underprivileged.
Initially starting with small community projects, Manav Vikas rapidly expanded its reach and impact, forming partnerships with local, national, and international organizations. Over the years, the NGO has:
- Empowered thousands of women through SHGs and vocational training.
- Transformed the lives of differently-abled individuals through rehabilitation programs.
- Enrolled over 2,000 children in schools, giving them access to a brighter future.
- Promoted sustainable farming practices, boosting incomes for marginalized farmers.
From a modest initiative to a leading grassroots organization, Manav Vikas continues its mission of transforming lives, inspired by the relentless dedication of its founder, Birbal Prasad.
